Salary Statement
Estimated Starting Salary Range: USD $76,350.00/Yr. - USD $127,250.00/Yr. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
Description
The Network Engineer (SME) is responsible for designing technical solutions for complex problems. They will provide engineering support for project solutions, including requirement interpretation and allocation of requirements to technical components. The Network Engineer will define processes to support the implementation of requirements and will be responsible for ensuring that the technical solutions leverage industry best practices, designing security and excellence while minimizing the total cost of ownership. The Network Engineer should be able to define internal and external customer IT infrastructure architecture needs and then design solutions to meet those needs to include: capacity planning, systems configuration and tuning, monitoring backups, and installations of hardware and software. The Network Engineer will be required to work independently with little supervision and should be flexible to work and support IT Operations needs as requested.
Performing as the primary network SME for the program
Performing tactical level network design, implementation, and testing; to include compute, storage and virtualization
Analyzing and optimizing network performance, latency, and throughput
Designing and implementing scalable, secure network architectures
Work with technologies such as:
Routing protocols & BGP
Policy-based routing & traffic shaping
IPSec tunneling & NAT
Firewalls, load balancing, and WAN optimization
Configuring/performing actions on active and passive intrusion detection systems and layer 1, 2, and 3 switches
Demonstrating proficiency with demilitarized zones, honeypots and managed and unmanaged switches
Executing router embedded virtualization
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver mission-driven solutions
Designing, implementing, and managing firewalls, VPNs, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and network access control (NAC) solutions
Providing all facets of Network engineering expertise to support current and future requirements within requisite Enterprise and Tactical Networks
Planning network layouts and configure systems to user environments
Analyzing network topologies for traffic and capacity requirements
Supporting the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed
Defining, maintaining, and upgrading the overall security posture of the networks
Performing network installation and engineering tasks, configuring and maintaining communications systems
Writing and editing "build-to" and "as-built" documentation, as well as implementation and test plans for physical and logical installs of IT equipment
Providing expert level analysis of voice, video, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites
Providing technical support and troubleshooting to users (Tier I, II, and III)

Requirements
5-8 years of hands-on experience with network development, implementation, design, defense, and administration
Experience in these areas may be concurrent, but at least three of those years must be at the enterprise level
Minimum certifications are Security+, Network+ and CCNA or CCNP
Experience is not limited to, but must include configuring layer 1 through 4 switches, routing virtual machines and service traffic and intrusion detection systems (active and passive), expansion modules, and Cisco series switches
Must be highly motivated self-starters with the ability for independent action initiative within established guidelines with excellent communication skills
Experience implementing DISA Network STIGs in support of achieving and maintaining an ATO
Demonstrate In-depth knowledge of networking hardware (CPU's wiring, Routers) and network analysis tools
Desired Skills
Experience with Layer 3 switch configuration
Tactical Data Link experience highly preferred, ideally JRE, MIDS, JREAP-C, or other Link-16 network capability
Experience with COP Tools such as GCCS or ICS
Previous experience providing network engineering support for classified networks, satellite networks
Type 1 encryption experience

SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL
