This is an entry-level position requiring the application of accounting principles to a computerized municipal accounting system. Essential job functions include: maintaining accurate records of municipal accounts; monitoring expenditures/revenues; preparing periodic financial statements and administrative reports; and obtaining and providing information. The employee communicates with other City employees, outside agencies and citizens to explain government regulations, problem areas in funds, and to verify status of specific funds, etc. The employee may be required to provide technical assistance or training to clerical personnel, Account Clerks or Accounting Technicians through verbal explanation and physical demonstration of work performed. Assignments are performed independently following general and specific instructions. Work is subject to review by the immediate supervisor for overall standards of performance and is subject to periodic audits. VETERANS PREFERENCEHonorably discharged veterans of the United States Active Duty Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City and who meet the qualifications for the position shall be given preference.
