Job Description

Parks and Recreation is currently looking for Lifeguards!

Current vacancies include shifts at both indoor aquatic facilities (Midco Aquatic Center and Westside Recreation Center) and outdoor pools:
• Summer 2026 outdoor pool schedules

• Weekday shifts: 5:15 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

• Lifeguards interested in assisting with swimming lessons

• Ongoing available shifts and opportunities listed below.

Part-time lifeguards (eligible to work up to 28 hours per week) are needed at both indoor aquatic facilities. Available shifts are listed below.

Midco Aquatic Center Shift Options:
*Shifts at Midco Aquatic Center require training on Sundays once per month throughout the year, and weekly during outdoor pool season.
• Monday through Friday: 5:15 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. or 3:45 to 8:15 p.m.

• Saturday: 6:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 to 6:15 p.m.

• Sunday: 11:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Westside Recreation Center Shift Options:
• Monday through Friday: 4:45 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 4 to 9 p.m.

• Saturday: 6:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 12 to 5 p.m.

• Sunday: 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 1:30 to 5 p.m.

Indoor Pool Shifts:
Schedules vary. Shifts average 40+ hours per week. Applicants must be 15 years old. Must be willing and will be required to work a varied schedule including weekends and evening hours.
Applicants should demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Lifeguard employment requires American Red Cross lifeguard certification. Applicants can apply without certification. The job offer is contingent based on successful completion of the certificate. If hired, the City of Sioux Falls will reimburse the cost of certification.
