This position serves as a professional nurse to assist Psychiatrists, therapists, and individuals in an Outpatient Program. Duties include assessing individuals' response to medication and treatment, communicating doctor's orders, providing psychiatric nursing care, obtaining vital signs, assisting with medication refills, and completing documentation. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This is a professional nursing position with primary orientation in the physical and psychosocial health care of individuals. This position serves as a professional nurse to assist the Outpatient Psychiatrist, therapists, and individuals in Clinical Services Unit (CSU). Must be a graduate of an accredited practical/vocational nursing program and hold a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Works closely with CSU psychiatrists in providing practical nursing duties. Assesses and observes the individual's emotional and physical response to medication and treatment. Communicates information to the individual's health care provider, their Pharmacy, families, caregivers, and other Providers involved with the individual. Communicates doctor's orders to individuals between appointments as needed. Ensures that required documentation and paperwork are completed according to Agency documentation guidelines. Provides direct psychiatric nursing care to individuals in order to provide individualized, goal-directed care. Works closely with, CSU Psychiatrists and Tele-psychiatrists in providing medical nursing duties. Provides appointments for medication injections as directed by the Psychiatrist. Assists individuals with treatment plan completion, obtaining vital signs, updating medications in the Electronic Health Record (E.H.R.) and assisting with medication refills as directed by the Psychiatrist.
