Compensation and Benefits:
Hiring Salary Range: $53,903.00 - $61,603.00 Full Salary Range: $46,818.00 - $83,780.00 Annually

About the Department:The Water Resources Department provides essential water and wastewater services to the Greensboro community. Behind those services is a fleet of specialized vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery that must remain operational every day. Water Resources technicians play an important role in maintaining this equipment so field crews can safely perform construction, maintenance, treatment, and emergency operations throughout the City.

About the Role:As a Heavy Duty Trucks & Equipment Diesel Technician, you will perform skilled maintenance on a variety of medium- and heavy-duty equipment and commercial construction equipment used by Water Resources.
Key responsibilities include:
• Performing skilled maintenance on medium- and heavy-duty equipment.
• Maintaining commercial construction equipment and other specialized Water Resources equipment.
• Applying established maintenance procedures and technical practices to assigned equipment.
• Troubleshooting equipment maintenance needs to help ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Working independently while following established procedures, safety practices, and technical direction.
• Collaborating with Equipment Section Supervisors, support staff, and Water Resources leadership.
• Maintaining quality workmanship and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Technicians in this classification are fully trained in the procedures associated with their assigned area of responsibility and are expected to apply sound technical judgment while maintaining equipment that supports critical Water Resources operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/GED
• 4+ years of experience in heavy truck and equipment repair/maintenance
• Valid Driver's License
• Class B CDL License with Tanker Endorsement ('OR" the ability to obtain within 6 months)
• Forklift License, Diesel Technology Certificate
