The MFC provides expert management, protection, and information needed to keep Mississippi's approximately 19.2 million acres of forestland healthy, productive, and prosperous. About the Position

Second-level Supervisory Forestry position accountable for directing a specific region of the statewide forestry program. Work at this level includes administrative, personnel, and budget management of a state forestry program in accordance with policies, rules, and regulations. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.
This position will have duties and responsibilities Statewide. The incumbent will report to the Forest Management Division Chief and will assist within the division but will be assigned primary oversight of multiple forest management programs. Programs include the state's forest health program, forest stewardship, and state and federal cost-share programs. This is a Non-State, (X-16) position.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of experience and licensure as a Registered Forester. — Additional Hiring Agency Qualifications: Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
