DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will assist the foresters at Moshannon State Forest in meeting our annual timber harvest goals. Your responsibilities will include collecting GPS data, analyzing timber sale details, marking and counting timber, and contributing to regeneration projects. You will also employ GIS technology to create maps for various purposes. Key tasks involve conducting GPS surveys to define boundaries for timber sales, herbicide application areas, and planting projects as directed by a forester. Additionally, you will gather stand analysis data to support silvicultural treatment proposals, input this information into relevant analysis software, and prepare reports for the foresters. The role also entails creating maps for timber sales and regeneration initiatives using GIS, as well as participating in the marking and counting of timber in accordance with Bureau guidelines to aid in the preparation of timber sales.Interested in learning more? The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
