The financial aid specialist will work with the Financial Assistance team to administer the state’s postsecondary grants and scholarships, such as A+, Access Missouri, Bright Flight, and the Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Perform administrative duties and activities that support the State Student Financial Assistance Programs including, but not limited to:
Providing the public with accurate information about the state aid programs and their operation through responses to email and telephone inquiries in a timely and professional manner;
Accurately reviewing and processing electronic and paper applications and other documents related to student and institutional eligibility
Assisting with the implementation of bulk mailings
Participating in IT projects related to state aid programs; and
Processing payment and refund of state program funds
Work and pivot in a fast-paced environment
Work independently and effectively in a team environment
Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance
Perform other related work as assigned
Beneficial education and/or work-related experience includes technical or professional education and/or experience in accounting, business, finance or public administration or closely related area.
Preferred experience in the student financial assistance profession, such as student services at an accredited college or university or a student loan guaranty agency or financial institution.
Supportive skills include: budget administration, cost analysis, program analysis, operational analysis, excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and other MS Office products as well as attention to detail and the ability to multitask
