THE POSITION

In this role, you will engage in skilled operations of equipment and vehicles, contributing to the maintenance of district roads, trails, and facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will be required to operate specialized machinery and vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 26,001 pounds, including but not limited to backhoes, bulldozers, road graders, front-end loaders, wildfire tenders, excavators, and dump trucks. When not operating equipment, the role involves manual labor and active engagement in both skilled and unskilled maintenance tasks. Responsibilities also include maintaining state forest roads, trails, and infrastructure, as well as performing grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, snow removal, and cindering. Additionally, the role entails conducting safety checks, inspecting equipment, maintaining vehicle logs, and preparing reports for supervisory review. You will analyze and determine the most efficient methods and equipment for completing assigned tasks while also demonstrating safe equipment operation to fellow team members.Interested in learning more? The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Tuesday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
