Recognizing the potential for ecological disaster, this legislation established the Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission as a state agency and authorized the creation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts as legal subdivisions of state government. This framework ensures a coordinated, localized approach to preserving the state's natural resources and agricultural productivity. About the Position This entry-level position serves as a regional liaison for the Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission. The Field Representative is responsible for a designated multi-county territory, providing critical administrative and technical support to local Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Core Responsibilities Governance: Oversee the election and appointment processes for District Commissioners. Program Management: Facilitate the delivery and administration of state-funded cost-share programs. Public Engagement: Coordinate and lead outreach and educational initiatives to promote conservation awareness. What you'll need to be Successful The successful candidate will possess a background in agricultural or natural resource management and a deep commitment to conservation. This role requires a highly organized professional capable of working independently, communicating effectively, and maintaining a proactive, solution-oriented approach to the state's environmental challenges. Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 0-1 year of experience. **Agency Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, or a related field, supplemented by zero (0) to one (1) year of professional experience. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite-specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint-is required to manage administrative tasks effectively.
