This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, or Juneau.
Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.

Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla salary: $30.62
Fairbanks salary: $31.54
Juneau salary: $32.15

What you will be doing:
This position is an entry/mid level position with the Division of Environmental Health's Drinking Water Program. This position works closely with other professional Drinking Water Program staff (one Environmental Engineer, three Environmental Program Specialists, and an Environmental Program Manager) as well as with public water systems (PWS) to review and complete lead service line inventories and other special projects.
Core responsibilities and duties are focused in these areas:
Compliance & Enforcement : Review, interpret and understand state and federal drinking water regulations pertaining to public water systems. Understand the Program's Compliance and Enforcement Strategy. Identify errors and inconsistencies in PWS compliance reporting from certified laboratories, perform data entry, and review/evaluate/verify PWS regulatory compliance.
Technical Assistance, Inspections, & Lead Service Line Inventories: Provide technical and compliance assistance to owners and operators of small public water systems, evaluate inspection reports and assist PWS with corrective action activities stemming from those inspections, and as-needed assist with the creation and review of lead service line inventories in an effort to determine if a PWS has lead service lines so they can be removed.

This position serves a key role in providing support for senior compliance and engineering staff and offering technical assistance to PWS throughout Northern Alaska.

The working environment you can expect:
The location of this position will be dependent on the successful candidate. The position provides professional support to the Drinking Water Compliance and Engineering staff. The role is primarily office/desk-based with the potential for part-time telework once trained. Daily workflow involves collaboration and frequent communication with coworkers, public water systems, engineering consultants, and members of the public both in-person and virtually. You can expect a set of daily/weekly/monthly tasks with larger projects worked in as applicable. There is independence in organizing the day-to-day work responsibilities and in determining the best way to meet the goals for each project. Opportunity for occasional field work to inspect public water systems is present during the summer months.
