Job Summary
Supports 24/7 air terminal operations by performing cargo handling, aircraft loading/unloading, and special handling functions in accordance with contract requirements, applicable regulations, and mission priorities. This position directly supports airlift operations by ensuring the safe, efficient movement of cargo to and from aircraft.
Roles and Responsibilities
Load and unload cargo from military and commercial aircraft using K-loaders, forklifts, and material handling equipment
Build, break down, and palletize cargo (463L pallets) in accordance with load plans and safety standards
Process cargo using automated systems (e.g., GATES)
Checks cargo against manifests, and annotates overage, shortage, or damage.
Operate forklifts, aircraft loaders, tugs, and other cargo handling equipment
Execute special handling procedures (hazardous materials, sensitive cargo, high-value items)
Ensure proper cargo restraint, tie-down, and aircraft compatibility
Support aircraft ground operations including positioning of equipment and coordination with aircrew
Maintain accountability of cargo, equipment, and documentation
Perform load team and load team chief duties (IAW DAFI24-605).
Perform joint inspections (IAW DTR 4500.9-R).
Perform other air cargo and job-related duties as required
Adhere to all safety, FOD prevention, and airfield driving procedures
Support shift operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Provide support to other sections within Air Operations as mission dictates and/or as directed by management.
Basic Qualifications
Experience in functions such as loading and unloading aircraft; operating automated or manual materials handling and other loading equipment (i.e.: including but not limited to 10K forklifts, 25K-Loader, lower lobe loader, etc.); and/or processing, scheduling, and maintaining records relating to cargo movement.
Must have or be able to obtain (and maintain) hazmat inspector certification (IAW AFMAN 24-604).
Must have or be able to obtain (and maintain) load team chief qualification.
Must have or be able to obtain (and maintain) joint inspector certification.
Must have or be able to obtain (and maintain) flight line driving privileges.
Physically capable of lifting 70 lbs or more and working in outdoor environments
Preferred Qualifications
Must be fluent in English
Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 4 blank visa/stamp pages remaining
Must possess driver's license with at least 6 months of remaining validity; validity must be maintained in this position.
Ability to obtain Department of Defense Token (CAC)
