Job Description

The Michigan Department of Treasury is seeking a visionary Language Access Coordinator (LAC) to lead transformative efforts in ensuring meaningful language access across all Treasury operations.
As Treasury's recognized expert in language access coordination, you'll be at the forefront of implementing and overseeing compliance with key legislation and policies, including:
Meaningful Language Access to State Services Act (2023 PA 241)
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
Other applicable federal and state regulations
This role will guide the development and execution of Treasury's comprehensive Language Access Plan, ensuring that services are accessible to all Michiganders-regardless of language proficiency. Some key responsibilities of this role include:
Lead and coordinate language access initiatives across Treasury's administrations, offices, and bureaus
Serve as the primary liaison to Treasury's Inclusive Access network, offering technical assistance and strategic guidance
Develop and deliver internal training and resources to ensure compliance
Advise Treasury Leadership and Operational Excellence teams on language-related initiatives, translation needs, and ESL engagement strategies
Design and implement policies and programs that promote awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement in language access
Monitor, evaluate, and report on Treasury's language access performance and impact
This role will play a pivotal role in shaping how Treasury serves Michigan's multilingual and multicultural communities. Your work will directly impact how residents access vital services, understand their rights, and engage with government systems.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience Departmental Specialist 13 - 15
Note: Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.
Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
