The Office of Cyber Security is looking for a highly motivated Cyber Security Specialist to assist in complex cyber security duties. This position will be part of a group of top-notch security professionals that research, deploy, and support security solutions across the state's network and protect the state's sensitive data. This position will have the opportunity to work with some of the most advanced security technologies available including but not limited to next-generation firewalls, web application firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, load balancers, network access controls, data loss prevention tools, system incident and event management tools, and more.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Office of Cybersecurity (OCS).

Applicants should be proficient in configuring and managing routers and Next Gen firewalls.
Applicants should be proficient in Cisco firewalls.
Knowledge of various routing protocols and experience with engineering and supporting various complex network architectures.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues including routing and packet diagnostic skills.
Should be familiar with various security technologies and best practices.
Knowledge and skills in cloud technologies, next-generation firewalls, and load balancing will be leveraged.
Be able to adapt, learn independently, and manage multiple projects at a time.
The applicant must also be able to work in a team environment and have good people skills.
Applicants should have a strong understanding of best security practices.
They must have a good understanding of networking and TCP/IP.
Applicants need to be familiar with next-generation firewall concepts and should be familiar with many different security technologies.
Applicants will need to know how micro-segmentation works and be able to assist with micro-segmentations projects.
Must have strong troubleshooting skills and can adapt and learn independently.
This position requires the management of many projects at a time.
A bachelor's or associate degree related to Computer Information Systems and multi-functional IT experience, including intermediate experience with the following, or similar, State of Missouri IT related services.
Skill in recognizing security intrusions and taking appropriate actions.
Skill in analyzing and correlating data and noticing patterns and discrepancies.
Strong knowledge of Next Gen Firewalls (NGFW) and networking skills.
Deep knowledge of zero trust architecture (ZTA) principles and deployment models.
Strong knowledge of multiple security appliances.
Strong knowledge of NIST 800-53 security framework.
Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
