About the Agency

The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. It is the mission of MDRS to provide appropriate and comprehensive services in a timely and effective manner. Programs and services assist individuals with disabilities to gain employment, retain employment, and to live independently. About the Position

This is a fourth-level professional position responsible for overseeing the technical, physical, and administrative security of information systems within assigned functional areas. The role includes directing the development and deployment of security technologies and processes, as well as ensuring that data remains protected from alteration or erasure. The position manages the workload and deliverables of assigned resources and works closely with the Information Technology Director to ensure all activities align with enterprise security standards. Responsibilities also include overseeing employee training in data security, providing advanced technical support within the field, and serving as a project lead when necessary. The individual may also supervise and provide technical direction to junior team members while mentoring less experienced staff.

What you'll need to be Successful

To succeed in this role, an individual must combine technical mastery of security standards and compliance requirements with proven leadership and mentoring skills. Success comes from managing enterprise security controls, responding effectively to incidents, aligning with the CISO's vision, and guiding staff while enforcing risk management and compliance. The role calls for excellent communication, the ability to make tough decisions under pressure, and a drive for continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 7-10+ years of IT experience with emphasis in security and compliance.
