THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
AS a County Caseworker 1, you will support youth aged 14-23 in transitioning to adulthood through the Independent Living (IL) Program. Conduct needs assessments and creating individualized Independent Living Plans. Provide hands-on guidance to help youth develop life skills, education plans, employment strategies, and housing stability. Conduct visits with youth in various settings like their homes, foster homes, and schools, sometimes involving transportation. Manage a caseload with varying schedules and needs, which may require non-traditional hours. Maintain accurate records and reports of youth progress and program activities. Build rapport with youth, including those who may be challenging to engage, and modeling pro-social behaviors. Organize and facilitate life skills groups and community service activities. Attend court hearings and meetings with treatment providers and partners to support youth. Communicate effectively with youth, families, professionals, and the IL Coordinator through oral and written communication. Participate in ongoing training and staff meetings to enhance skills related to transition-aged youth and relevant topics.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 1-hour lunch.Once a caseworker is trained, normal working hours may be flexed to coincide with consumer needs.Caseworkers may be put on a rotation for on-call services which will include nights and weekends.Employee may have overnight travel or out of County travel on a monthly basis. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; orA bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other r
