As Attendant Chauffeur for the DE Hospital for the Chronically Ill, your position will be responsible for the transport of physically, mentally, and developmentally disabled persons. You'll transport residents between their place of residence and community treatment or recreational facilities, as well as transporting residents to hospitals, doctor's offices, etc. from a State operated facility. You may be required to lift and otherwise assist disabled persons in and out of vehicles and other facilities. A significant aspect of the work will involve understanding and dealing with the special needs of residents displaying disruptive behaviors. This role is also responsible for the routine maintenance and cleaning of the vehicles and may operate facility support service vehicles.

Operates vehicles providing inter-community transportation of incapacitated persons and volunteer workers.
Ensures seating and wheelchair restraints are appropriate to the specific needs of each person.
Performs routine maintenance to ensure safe mechanical condition and cleanliness of vehicles.
Assists with passengers boarding and exit of vehicles and other facilities.
May operate facility support service vehicles such as trash, laundry and food trucks.
