The mission of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is to conserve and enhance Mississippi's wildlife, fisheries, and parks, provide quality outdoor recreation, and engage the public in natural resource conservation. About the Position

This position is located in the Wildlife Bureau at the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. This will be an Assistant Wildlife Biologist/Supervisor position over the Southwest Wildlife Management Areas.

What you'll need to be Successful

Seasoned Professional Environmental/Natural Resources position that requires deep technical knowledge of an environmental/natural resources area or thorough knowledge of multiple areas and to interpret on a broad basis the principles, theories and concepts of a scientific specialty and regulatory requirements. Employees in these roles are usually regarded as a statewide expert in their area, known outside the boundaries of state government; influence standards at the agency, state, and national levels; prepare and review technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance; provide input and recommendations in legislation and rules. At this level, employees assist with technical leadership, developing and implementing strategies and procedures for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental and natural resources data and information, designing research, and reviewing technical work of others. This position will require knowledge of wildlife management, infrastructure management and will be responsible for assisting management decisions on the Southwest WMAs. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance will be a very important role of this position.
