About the Agency

The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. It is the mission of MDRS to provide appropriate and comprehensive services in a timely and effective manner. Programs and services assist individuals with disabilities to gain employment, retain employment, and to live independently. About the Position

This position provides assistance in formulating and directing the activities of a Community Rehabilitation Program within the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Incumbents perform a variety of administrative duties in developing and carrying out departmental programs. Incumbents work under the general supervision of the Facility Manager (Vocational Training Supervisor). Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to the following:
Performs and oversees a variety of clerical functions;
Keeps an organized office filing system, copies and files materials in a timely fashion, and responds to requests in a timely manner;
Preparation of months end financial reports;
Maintains general accounts and processes other departmental paperwork;
Drafts written correspondence.
Receives and distributes mail;
Maintains calendar of events and personnel itineraries:
Uses basic office equipment including a copy machine, computer, typewriter, fax machine and calculator in performing office support functions;
Maintains department files and records;
Organizes and schedules meetings;
Prepares and disseminates written and verbal information regarding meetings, etc.;
Reviews the work of staff for quality and accuracy;
Prepares and/or generates reports;
Processes requests and requisitions;
Prepares and maintains financial documents;
Completes additional duties as necessary or assigned.

A Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.); Experience with administrative support functions; Ability to work as a team member and meet deadlines; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Ability to perform job duties in a courteous manner; Ability to manage priorities within time constraints; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and coordinate work in an independent manner to achieve goals.
