About the Agency

The Attorney General is the chief legal officer and advisor for the State of Mississippi on both civil and criminal matters. Her responsibility is to represent public officials and government agencies and to issue legal opinions that interpret State law. The Attorney General has the sole power under Mississippi law to bring or defend a lawsuit on behalf of the State. She acts as counsel to State agencies and defends them or brings suit on their behalf. Most importantly, the Office is charged with the representation of the people of the State of Mississippi.

About the Position

This is a time limited position. This position is located in the Administration division. The job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Manage accounts payable/receivable documents, ensuring accurate and timely payments and receipts.
• Prepare and post journal entries with comprehensive documentation.
• Collaborate with other agencies regarding legal contract approvals, ensure accuracy of contracts.
• Assist in producing monthly and quarterly financial reports.

What you'll need to be Successful

Excellent organizational, communication, and data processing skills, be able to prioritize work to meet assigned deadlines, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of experience and/or appropriate certification.
