About the Position First-level Accounting professional responsible for examining, accounting for, reconciling, analyzing, and interpreting standard accounting data and records. At this level, employees apply basic accounting theory and review fiscal transactions to ensure agency practices (e.g., Payroll, accounts payable/receivable, inventory, collections, etc.) are in accordance with general and government accounting practices and principles, and with agency policy and procedure. Employees at this level reconcile accounting reports and conduct basic or routine analysis of agency fiscal data (e.g., budget versus actual revenues). Work at this level is limited in complexity (e.g., relatively small number of fund types, revenue sources, cost centers, and cost allocations). -- This position is located within the HR Department at the Mississippi State Penitentiary. What you'll need to be Successful To be successful in this position, you will need to be highly organized, pay close attention to detail, be able to meet deadlines, ensure confidential information is handled securely, and follow MSPB and MDOC policies and procedures.
